Esse is a former consultant paediatrician (Evelina London Children’s Hospital, 2006-2018).

She is an accredited medical mediator (2014 to date), specialising in disagreements between parents and health professionals, often at the severe end of conflict where court proceedings would be the next option. She also mediates conflicts which arise between colleagues.

Esse is a principle trainer (UK and internationally) for the Medical Mediation Foundation (Mediation Programme of the year 2018) in recognising and managing conflict in healthcare.

She is a Co-Director of Thrum Leadership (Oxford University) which offers highly-evaluated healthcare leadership programmes. She facilitates team development programmes for teams in difficulty, and teams wanting to advance from good to great.
