Dr Joseph Hartland (they/them) left clinical medicine in 2018 and is now a full-time Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol Medical School, where they currently hold the role of Deputy Education Director for Student Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). Additionally, they lead on the inclusion of marginalised voices in undergraduate teaching, inclusive educational culture change, and sit on the Executive Board for the Medical Schools Council EDI Alliance. Outside of academic work they are a queer activist, and the lead author on the GLADD UK Medical School Charter on So-Called LGBTQ+ Conversion Therapy.
