The NHS Leadership Academy sits proudly within the NHS People Directorate, NHS England. We aim to help everyone in the NHS discover their full leadership potential and achieve the highest standards in health and care. All of our leadership programmes, lifelong learning and talent scheme offers are designed to deliver the NHS People Plan and our People Promise. Our team brings a wealth of experience and passion for leadership, talent and unlocking potential, pushing for the best in world-class learning and development.

General Medical Council

We work to protect patient safety and support medical education and practice across the UK. We do this by working with doctors, employers, educators, patients and other key stakeholders in the UK’s healthcare systems.

As part of this, we:

• decide which doctors are qualified to work in the UK
• oversee UK medical education and training
• set the standards doctors need to follow throughout their careers
• where necessary, take action to prevent a doctor from putting the safety of patients, or the public’s confidence in doctors, at risk.
